Mg buffer

Hi, I read a while back that the dead sea MG chloride is better than epsom salts for raising MG in the reef. I saw that you also said both epsom and Mg chloride together is the best buffer. What is the formula for mixing these two together to make the best Mg buffer? thanks

The ratio in a mix depends on how you are otherwise supplementing calcium.

If you use calcium chloride exclusively, use the ratio in the article linked above.

If you are using most methods other than calcium chloride, use about 10:1 MAG Flake to Epsom salts. This article has more:

What ratio should I use if I am using kalk and calcium chloride?

That depends on how much calcium chloride. I expect that you must also be using a buffer of some sort? Are you using my DIY two part along with limewater?

I use this method. All of my top-off is saturated limewater and I buffer Ca and Alk using your 2-part.

Yes, limewater plus 2 part. I'm still figuring out a stable routine but plan to use the 2 part for whatever the limewater can't keep up with.

I'd just use the ratio for the magnesium part that you are otherwise using then.
