I know they say you should not use mh on a sh tank. But what if there are alot of shaded spots in the tank.

Seahorses only need enough light to see. Light from the room would be enough.

And like MaShell said, MH can rasie temps to undesireable levels.

mh for two resons, one corals and two it just a marine aquarium that shimmer. I also would be useing a chiller.

Many people use MH's with horses, often to grow seagrasses.

Take care of the ventalation, don't go crazy with the watts and you'll be cool. :D

What species?

My capensis hate light and prefer to stay hidden in the shadows.

My reidi could care less and would do fine under MH.

i have 150w MH and 130w PC over my 30g. Cube seahorse tank and have had no ill affects.. but i havnt had them that long.. only like a month.. i dont think it will be a problem.. i think thats a myth

Seahorses do fine in whatever light you want to put them in. They are not a deepwater fish. My 50 gallon pent will have 223 watts of a HQI/PC mixture. But I also have a chiller. Just mind the temp.... that's not a myth.
