one of the bulbs in my halide fixture blew and need to replace, I was looking for replacements and see there are different K numbers. I know the original bulbs are 10K but what is the difference between 10K, 15K, 20K etc.? And are halide bulbs like fluorescent one in the you should replace them every year? Thanks for any help.

Yes you need to replace MH bulbs periodically. I know Phishy Business replaces their in store bulbs every six months. Some need replaced more often than others.
As for Kelvin temperatures or K numbers, generally the higher the number the bluer the color of the light from the bulb. I'm using 250W Coralvue 14Ks right now and they are very blue (and need replaced).
