Mh Bulbs...

i know there are a few different K's out there... which do you prefer and why... i will be looking at getting a few USED bulbs soon and im wondering what is out there since i have NO MH experence at all...

I have couple used Metal Halide bulbs but it is 400w. I have 10k hamilton and 12.5k Helios

I only have 250w. from 10k-20k.

I like XM 20K personally. The coloration is better than with anything else I've tried. I also like Hamilton 14K.

I have Hami 10K, Geiseman 13.5, Phoenix 14K, they are 250 DE.

i like XM 10s and 20s. I use Phoenix 14k and love it!

Your mail box is full. I have some bulbs ...and I'm right next door in Redondo Bch.You can see the bulbs I have on my tank.I've used Coralife for years and years and have had good results with them.

I prefer the Phoenix 14K. It has the right blend of blue and white.

I'm a big fan of my DE Ushio 20k, mostly due to the fact that it is the only light i have on my tank. (no room for supplimental actintics)

so from what it sounds like...the 20K are the closest looking to the Actenics "color wise" and the 14K are kinna a mixture, correct? then the 10K are just super normal looking?

I personally prefer to use XM 20k lamps. Right now I have two 175 Watt 20k xm"s as well as 4 65 watt pc lamps over my 60. I do not know why I would ever change to a different lamp, for me there would be no reason too. Very nice growth, excellent color and low maintenance as far as algae is concerned. Two thumbs way up!
