MH canopy

Im going to make a canopy. i want to use MH lighting. What do i need to buy for the lighting equiptment? I have seen reto fit kit for about 70 bucks but my guess its its not pug & play (need a bulb of socket or transformer)

I got the type with a remote ballast. It made it easier and lighter to mount. I just drilled some holes through the hood and then put some bolts to hold it onto my custom hood. Works great. I also keep it about 9" above the water surface.

Go to websites such as www.diyreef.com or www.hellolights.com or any others that are listed as sponsors, look at the different retro kits, look at different parts and maybe buy just different pieces at diferent websites.
I don't think you can get evrything for $70. I'd bet something was missing.

A good quality retrofit kit is going to run you $200-$250.
