MH HQI Ballast Parts????

Howdy,
I was curious if anyone knows what specific parts are required to assemble an HQI type ballast? I have wired regular magnetic ballasts before (Core and Cap.), not really familiar with "HQI". I am contemplating changing over to radium bulbs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom, if I am not mistaken a HQI ballast is a complete seperate animal from the standard M58. I do not believe that you can convert one to another.

I was thinking of just making my own HQI ballast and using the aluminum casings from the regular M58's. I assembled the M58's I use on my 90 right now. It only cost about $65 per ballast. I was wondering if anyone new the actual name of the HQI ballast coil and if a cap./ignitor is needed and what types?

At one time, I tried to find the "M80" ballasts in McMaster Carr. I did not have any luck finding them. So at that point I am not really sure where to find them.

You may want to try a lighting supply store.

Peeps make them all the time. I'm considering it. The bare parts are available. Google it.
