MH in a 10g

I plan on using this setup over a 10g long (21x12x20 roughly) with the lights installed in a DIY Canopy with the back open for venting (if needed I will install a fan to cool). I plan on putting the lights about six inches above the water with the MH centered in between two actinics. Is this too much light for the tank? Basically I want to put what ever I want in this tank, maybe even a clam. I heard that there is never too much light but I don't want to kill anything.
