I'm not sure why people keep saying T5's are cheaper to run because a watt of T5 output is the same as a watt of MH output. T5's generate as much heat as a MH, the only difference is the heat is more evenly distributed because of the long florescent tube. Plus, T5's need to be actively cooled in order to have maximum efficiency. Running costs for two 250 watt metal halides over a 120 gallon tank would be 500 watts and bulb replacement every year (2x$65=$130 per year). Six 54 watt T5's would be 324 watts and bulb replacement every six month (6x$22=$132 or $264 per year).
