I am thinking about getting HQI(DE) metal halide retrofit due to its longevity and intensity and find this one at hellolights which is
Electornic ARO ballast.

Is this good choice? Which bulb do you recommend in addition to 50/50 pc lighting?

Any info would be very appreciated.

If you really wantto drive the lamps properly and not underdrive them, I would stay away from th eelectronic ballast and go for an HQI ballast to run the double ended lamps

How much will it underdrive the bulb? About 20% lower intensity?
If the bulb lifespan longer with underdirve?

I guess a good way to tell if the bulb is being fired right is to look at the arc. If it is "s" shaped or curved, it is not firing right and will greatly reduce the life of the bulb. It should be straight. Got that info from Sprung's Vol 3...great book.
