Does anyone know if an E-ballast will smoothly fire/operate a Radium, or if it really should be just an HQI ballast?

I saw a post about this the other day but cannot seem to find it right now. I Believe they were always running the radiums, however there were a few complaints about slightly lower par values and a slight color shift. 10k appeared closer to 14K..etc.

You can run them but the output will be reduced and the color will shift from what I've read.

well, that's no good then...since the color and output are what make a radium a radium. I'll just have to stick with getting an HQI ballast. Sorry to hijack the thread.

I had great results for the 6 months that a radium is good for on ARO 250's. Same as with HQI, but with so many other bulb combos that can equal them I ditched using them given their high cost and very low lifespan.

Not a problem on the hijack. But if you know anyone interested in MH's just direct them this way.
