The tank looks great Matt! Did you use a filter on the camera to get the color balance right? Awesome!!

Matt,

don't know if you read my thread or not but I had to abandon all my 9 month old Giesemann bulbs due to a huge color shift. The blues weren't even blue anymore compared to some 9 month old blue+ bulbs I had before I tried the new giesemann line. Something is certainly different about these bulbs that seems to result in a larger color shift over time. I am returning to all ATI for now.

Yes, I saw that - I'm sticking with ATI for the vast majority of the bulbs as well. I wonder if the bulbs were a contributing factor in your tank issues:confused: I don't much trust any other blue bulb for long term health, and even with the ATI blue plus I could see a visual difference between 10 month old bulbs compared with new ones, there was a much deeper blue color there.

Other than ATI Blue Plus, Coral Plus, and one Aquablue Special I currently only have 2 Gieseman AquaBlue Azures and two KZ Fiji Purple Bulbs. I tried replacing the AAs with Coral Plusses but the overall look was too blue for me. I may mess with the mix some more as I seem to get better results with ATI, so If I could swap out the AAs without losing the color balance that would be ideal.

I like the giesemann purple over the purple+ and i really liked the blues when they were new, a much deeper blue. Ah well. I doubt they were a cause of my tank issues but may have delayed any recovery. ???

The KZ Fiji purple is the best of the purple bulbs and does well in the par and long term use category, you may want to order one of those from BRS next time you change bulbs.

The Clowns have been laying eggs like clockwork, I wish I had the time to raise a batch of babies. This time they laid their egges up near the front so I can get a decent picture:

Hi Matt,

What are the Latin name of the above acro please? I think my lfs has a similar acro (see below). Do you think it is the same as one of yours?

Cheers

Bülent

I'm sorry Bulent, I don't have a Latin or common name for that one- it is just a wild colony. That one you are eyeing is a beauty, but I think it's a different species. That sort of thing is not my strong suit unfortunately.

Wow!! Nice video Matt - that is a sweet bunch of corals & that PE is IMPRESSIVE to say the least Well done, I have coral envy.
