Mhucasey's SPS obsession

No, I dose 5 drops every other night. I haven't used the Red Sea products but I'd expect that they use B vitamins as well, that is the source of the fluorescence - we use Riboflavin at work to check for spray all coverage inside bioreactors because it fluoresce with uv light:)

That Cherry blossom is awesome! Is it some kind of Tort? It looks just like the Cali Tort I have and the mother colony it came from is probably 3.5-4" around at the base... super fat like a tree trunk. I'd love to get some of that red!

I just read back from around page 54 where you first mentioned Aquaforest to follow your process. Thanks for documenting it, I look forward to seeing the results. I am planning to make the transition in the spring or early summer as I stocked up on salt (RC) on boxing day....lol....
Currently I dose 5ml of vinegar into my siporax every day for a little carbon boost.

Yep my bad, Furiosa is a she - named after "Imperator Furiosa" from Mad Max Fury Road:)

Too bad it didn't work out with Furiosa. I was really rooting for her.
I am rooting for the real one to take best picture.... here is a very good analysis

Also it's just too damn good of a name for a badass fish, you might have to rename the other angle that's still in the flubber tank?

I'm not sure what species the cherry blossom is but I love the red for sure:). Furiosa was true to her character namesake and escaped into the Flubber tank, so I will let her stay until she gives me a reason to kick her out. She can pick on the few acros there if she likes. I LOVE Fury Road, I don't see many movies in the theatre but I saw that one twice! It would be cool if it ended up winning awards:thumbsup:

Il be in San Diego for a week next month. I was looking for a shop to check out, now I'm defiantly going to Aqua SD. It would be awesome to cherry pick some nice frags and have them ship them back to me. Unless, does anyone know if you can fly on a plane with coral frags in a small box? Not sure the regulations on that. I could save in the shipping lol

The owner there is very easy to work with, being able to pick the frags in person will be very cool. I don't think you could bring them on the plane because of the qty of liquid. You won't regret visiting that shop:)

Jaw dropper Matt, very jealous buddy :)

Hey mhucasey my one green acro recently started having it's minstrel filaments out. It started doing this at feeding time so I thought it a feeding response, but the areas where the filaments came out is now white like tip burn. Any thoughts? I have had my hands in the tank more recently.

Most of the time its a feeding response, but it can sometimes be due to irritants in the water. Do you use activated carbon in your system?

Update: The Aquaforest system is definitely working! I have been dosing 5 drops NP Pro first thing in the morning and at about 11PM at night, and the two doses seem to work better than one big dose. The tips, especially, of Acros are showing the biggest change. For example, I got this coral as a frag with Yellowish green tips and reddish polyps and base over a year ago:

Its grown into a decent colony, but its become kind of dull since being moved into the SPS tank. This is it in December:

I just noticed the purplish terminal corallites last night:

This coral was blue in the store and promptly went green in the tank. The tips are coloring up very fast in the last two weeks:

The red planet lost a lot of PE when the angels were in the tank, its coming back now:
