MIA Fish

I have a MIA fish from a fish fight this morning. It has been about 3 hours since I saw him. If it was killed in the fish fight is it necessary to move all of my rock to find him? I don't want to leave a dead fish in the tank but don't want to move all of my rock to find him either. No matter what I'm going to wait for at least 6 hours before doing anything just incase he is hiding from those mean fish that beat him up.

Well a few things will come into play...what size tank? What size fish was it? How good is your clean up crew?

It would be best to remove the fish IF possible, but I would not tear apart the tank to find it. If you cannot find the fish; keep a close watch on your parameters, and keep up with water changes.

If it jumped from the tank, and you have any critters (cats or dogs) they just got a free Beggin' Strip.

I couldn't have jumped as my tank is pretty closed.

It was my psudo fighting with a Demsial. The psudo picks on any new fish and so I added two this time but that didn't make a difference. the psudo is pretty big and Demsials weren't that big.

I had seen all of the fish fighting in the corner so I broke it up and feed them some food. The psudo wouldn't leave this one Demsial alone and that is the one that is still missing.

Psuedos can be really aggressive.

Hopefully it is hiding, I usually turn off the lights for a while when I introduce a new fish.

He is alive, barely but alive. He doesn't have too many fins and a few bites out of his back. He was a bright blue and now he is on the gray side. He is hiding behind my power head, so he is pretty safe up there. He did come out to eat today so that is a good thing.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to nurse him back to health. I was thinking about going to get a breading section and put him in it until he gets better. what does everyone think? or should I just let him go to heal on his own.

The breeding net may work, although you will probably stress him out pretty bad trying to catch him.

Has the pseudo stopped picking on him? If it is eating that is a good sign.

when he comes out from hiding the pseudo picks on him but he just goes right back to hiding. that was my thought, if he just comes out to eat until he heals that would be good. the pseudo will stop picking on him as he picks on all new fish for a few days. Just never this bad.
