Miami Orchid?

I bought this coral as a Miami Orchid.
As time has went on it is beginning to lose the blue coloring at the tips and I'm not getting a lot of growth from it.
It's sitting directly under one of my MH lights about 3 inches from the surface of the water. The flow around it is high and I feed all my corals a variety of foods including DT's, Rotifers, Reef-Roids, Cyclopeze. The MH is a 150W DE 10K bulb.
Water changes occur weekly at 10%.
I do struggle with my CA levels but thats to be fixed here in a month.( getting a reactor).
My other SPS are doing well, Tri-Color Acro, Orange Cap, Pink Pocillipora, Orange Digata.
I searched the net but didn't find a lot about this particular coral. Anyone had any experience with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nice chattin with ya scott.

Looks like its either a tort or possibly related to the tort family?

the browning could be a result in high nitrate/nutrient levels. What are nitrates reading out as?

Yeah that looks like it. And I bet I know where you got it. :) Sometimes when frags are new to a system they shift coloration.

Grayhawk,

The Miami Orchid originally came from a couple of guys who are members of FMAS. You might try the FMAS forum as most of the guys there have them.

Good luck

give it time once its set a good base it will star to take off mine took for ever to do this and know its seems to grow about a .5 to 1 inch a month defently try to balance your calcium and alk

Nitrates are around 5 PPM. I don't have many fish. Phospahte is basically undetectable.Have a Phos Ban reactor with the media and carbon in it. 20 Gal fuge keeps most of the nutrients at low levels. I'm hoping it's just a case of slow out of the gate.LOL
I know my Tri Acro was that way.
Got it at Fish and Ichy.

Looks like A. Valida to me, I could be wrong, but has a similair grow pattern to mine, and coloration...Just my opinion though....
