michigan reefers

Do you guys know that there is a reef club forum for your local area? there are a few for michigan. It took me a while to find my local forum here on RC. Seems like most of the ones are idle but you can change that.

hello to all adambirk here. live in mio which is in northern michigan. which is about the worst place to live if you are really into reefs cause there is absolutly no place close to go to. oh well i guess that does help me pay my bills on time other wise i would be in the fish store every week spending that hard earned dough.

getting a new tank tomarrow. bought it off of a guy on michigan reefers. it is a 150 gallon acrilic that is 5 by 2foot by 2foot. cant wait to go down and get it. and as a bonus it is in waterford so you know what that means...................moby dicks!!!!!!!!!!!! and hey ya never know maybe just have to go the rest of the way and hit up the trop. cause that store absolutly rocks.

brad let me know if you are still going tomarrow with me cause i want to leave at the latest by 9am. so take it easy on the budlights and also michigan sucks....................go green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey chort55 i need you to do some research for me i heard the michiganreefers.com has a brand new store in flint have you been there ??? if so hows prices

Hey, sorry its been a while..... Yeah, been there a couple times. I have only picked up a couple things so far, but they were healthy and have been just fine for the month + I have had them all. BTW, it is called Reef Paradise, they are a really small store, but they have healthy stock and a decent selection for their size. I haven't been there in about a month and a half (busy w/ work and getting ready to upgrade + move lol). The prices were fair, I have heard they went up though :mad2: Service is good, Mike and Gary are quite knowledgable. I have only been to that store, Moby Dick's, and Petco (out petco is actually decent). They didn't have the fish selection of MD's, but they have a nice coral selection IMO. Also, they keep their fish in bigger tanks so they aren't as stressed, which limits what they can stock at 1 time, but it is nice too because they aren't cramped and stressed more then they need to be, + the big ones can actually move a little lol.

To sum it up, yup been there, its decent and I plan to go back again :)

I drive fast, but I used to live a couple miles from the store and worked by the mall.... it was a 9-13 min. drive for me, typically probably about 20 though depending on traffic. They are NE of the mall. If your heading this way already its worth checking out, but I wouldn't say it is a 100% must see make a special trip tomorrow kind of thing. They are new and definitly have shown a desire to grow, have alot of potential, and have already improved from their opening which was only a few months ago.

Here is their link from michiganreefers.com, has all their info on it :)

As far as petco goes w/ the ick... I've seen/ heard of it in quite a few different places from time to time. Ick doesn't bother me though its kinda like the flu IMO, the weaker ones may not do well, but if they are otherwise healthy and still eating they can get over it. I have had it many times in my old FW days (not yet in SW though), got rid of it everytime by just letting nature run its course, never treated anything, yet lost very, very few... I used to actually get fish w/ ick from one store and put them right in my system w/o issue :)
