Microbubbles contribute to Pospahtes?

For some reason I can not get my skimmer to stop spitting micro-bubbles back into the DT. I have tried adjusting it all I can. I have also been fighting HA for quite some time now. So, was wondering would the micro-bubbles from the skimmer help fuel the phosphates or is there really another underlying problem?

Microbubbles are unrelated to phosphates. Phosphates enter your tank through feeding, source water and possibly rockwork.

whenever i get microbubbles i get insane algae

1) Stop posting just to get your count up. You won't get into the For Sale forums without "meaningful" posts.

2) It's likely the other way around. Algae traps, and sometimes produces, micro bubbles. They aren't causing the algae.

what are you talking about?
I dont think you are referring to me but if you are..i dont care about the for sale forums.

reef octopus bh 1000...hob skimmer..ill try to post some pics..but might be easier to google it.
as far as the HA..its not as thick as it was before but its still unsightly..stringy with airbubbles attaching to it

I did a search on your skimmer and it looks like just that little black piece of foam is the only thing keeping bubbles from going from the raction chamber into your tank.
You might want try a thicker piece of foam. You will have to keep it clean though, if it clogs your skimmer will overflow. A nylon stocking tied around the outflow tube would be kind of unsightly but should stop the micro-bubbles. Hopefully once your skimmer is broken in well it will clear up on it's own.
Do a search in the archives for "dinoflagellates" and see if that is what you are seeing in your tank. (I hope not)

Looks like hair algae, a very mild case of it. Eventually it will phase out if you just keep the phosphate down. Phosphate is, btw, a mineral that dissolves in the water: using ro/di, which filters out all minerals, will help; but some arrives as part of the rock. As it dissolves into the water, algae takes advantage of it. When the rock and sand has been in there long enough, it will have dissolved all the phosphate out: so time will help.

thanks for the help..Tank has been up for about 15 months now, but I did just recently add more sand. Added 100 red leg hermits and 100 astrea snails yesterday too. Hope the mow it down soon.

are micro bubbles bad for any reason I kind of like the look in my tank with them ive heard yes and no any input would help thanks

Micro bubbles have no effect on your system other than looks. If you like the look, they're wonderful. If you hate the look, they're evil and must be eliminated. :)

Mexican turbos will keep your hair algae in check until the phosphates go back down. Products like ChemiPure Elite will help with phosphate, or set up a phosphate reactor.
