Midas Blenny behavior?

my midas blenny likes to move sand around, is this normal behavior? He scoops it in his mouth and drops it as he swims around the tank.

Mine perches on a rock in the middle of the tank all day. I've seen him move around sand but its very few and far between.

mine does it quite often, I think I am going to have to re-home him as I can't have him covering up all of my corals with sand constantly. Very frustrating.

Found these two threads on RC with other members who have Midas Blennies that exhibit the same behavior. I have to agree with the last poster on the first thread I link, he is probably searching for pods in the sand.

Thread One

Thread Two

Thanks for finding those. I guess once I move everything over to a larger tank, I'll find a new home for him as well as my trio of lyretail anthias.

What color is your midas blenny?? Are you sure he is a blenny?? LOL... Sounds like a goby. I Love the midas blenny!!!! I have had a few over the years. They like to jump out to see the dry land. Let me know if you want to re-home him. :)
BTW...my tank is fully covered on the top now...no more jumpers allowed... I read those threads...I guess your not alone.I have never seen mine do this sand thing. my2cents

I'm sure he is a midas...just a quirky personality. He is in a few photos on my profile page. He's quite beautiful, so I will let you know when I need to re-home him!
