Midas Blenny....

I am wondering if the Midas Blenny is aggressive. I have a 75 gallon tank that is home to a pair of clownfish. I am going to slowly add only reef safe fish and like the look of the Midas. I am also thinking about one of the smaller gobies such as the Green Goby. Will the Midas Blenny bother a small Goby in a 75 gallon with lots of rockwork?

Also, will my Black and White Clowns bother the goby or blenny?

Thanks

I have a midas blenny in a 72 gallon with an assortment of small fish including a tailspot blenny, a lawnmower blenny and sevral small gobies with no problems. He does stick up for himself, but never anything serious.

Good to know. Thanks. Ever had any issues with jumping? Is your tank open top? Also, what do you feed your gobies and blennies?

Thanks

My Midas is quite peaceful. I have never seen a bit of aggression out of him toward anything.
If you are going to have trouble, it will be from your clowns.

The clowns may bother the gobies or blenny? I also like the idea of another blenny to go along with the Midas. Any suggestions? I like the bi color or flame tail. Would these work out or am I pushing it?

My midas was very peaceful.

He did, however, jump out of the tank.

+1!

I had one in my daughters 36g and he was one of my alltime favorite fish. VERY peaceful(but would stand up for himself and not get bullied) and more personality than any other fish i've ever had.

Like Amoore though, mine did jump:( We had him for about 2 1/2 years and i dont think i EVER saw him even near the top of the tank. Even during feedings, i dont think i ever saw him even halfway up the tank much less near the top. One morning though, my daughter screamed that he was all dried out on the floor and sure enough, he was. I dont know what happened or what spooked him but he just decided to jump one day so make sure he cant get out if you get one.

HIGHLY recommend a Midas for any tank. Great fish!;)

I would definitely watch for jumping. I have a glass cover on my tank which I know a lot of people don't like, but it works for me. Haven't lost a fish to jumping. I feed my fish a variety of frozen foods. I really like marine cuisine and emerald entree because they have a variety mixed in already. I really enjoy my tailspot blenny. He is very active, but a smaller blenny. I think your choices would work fine. I use to have a bi color with no problem. I have a clown that can be a bully, but both blennies stick up for themselves and don't tolerate it. All of my fish get along well and I have a variety.

I've had my midas for 3-4 months now in a 72-gal with a pair of clowns, tiger jawfish, target mandrin, cardinals and fire gobies with no problems between any of the fish. He stays on a toadstool leather coral durring the day and sleeps in star poylps at night. I don't have a top on my tank and have had a couple in the past that did jump out, but I had a flame angel & blue tang at the time also. I've heard that as long as you don't have any simi-aggressive or aggressive fish or sudden changes in light, such as lights going off at night or coming on in the morning without some type of light on to make a subtle change that would spook them. I have bright moon lights on all the time then the PC actinics come on in the AM, then metal halides then PC daylights, then in reverse in the PM, so there is a light on all the time, nothing chases him, he chases nothing.
