Wow! Beautiful tank Mark! :)

Another thread to subscribe to! ;) I never knew you had one going.

What is that coral? It's awesome! :eek1:

Well, I spent Friday, some of yesterday doing a major overhaul of the tank.

Specifically:
Removed bubble coral to basement tub [had gotten too large, was sticking out too far into the flow + having troubles]. Cut 3 heads off to stay in 58, rest for propagation :D

Removed 1 piece of LR to basement tub along with rock bubble was attached to. Was feeling that there was too much rock for what I wanted - that I wanted to lower the whole aquascape a notch.

Moved green slimer from left side where it was having space issues/growing onto left glass to center of tank.

Having removed the large bubble colony - I moved my Tunze 6060 from within the rockwork to the left glass. I don't like it so visible, but the overall flow is vastly better. Glued 3 different small Acropora frags to the magnet holder to encrust + make it look more organic.

Swapped bulbs. I had been using an AC 14k + AB 10k. Both are nearing being too `old' - and I've added a radium to the mix, having never run 20k for any extended period. I do love the color, realize that I'll need to replace it early ... but am interested to see what a change of spectrum will do.
Am debating whether I'll be running AC 14k + 20k or try a 10k reeflux in combination [2 MH on 36"] tank.

Anyway - until later, here's a quick before/after of the aquascape.
Don't like the after picture much ... but for the meantime it works.

I dunno. Got it as a frag at a reef club meeting two years ago as a 1/4" tiny stub with about 8 polyps.
It's now at two years - a little bigger than the pic now ... been a long grow-out.

Of course, after moving it around the last few days, the body color is browner ... but it's a great coral.

No idea on ID, name ... just know that I really like it.

If you ever decide to frag it, please let me know. I would definitely be interested. :D

Here's two of the bubble frags ... was one of my wife's first corals - now in captivity about 7 years.

Over time it grew a branching structure as the skeleton put on inches + heads split. Perhaps this is a somewhat unique form of bubble - or it's age just makes it this way. Will have to get better pics when I frag some more heads.

Anyway - two of the three frags/heads in my 58:

What a wonderful coral.

Looks good Mark.

Is that one acro epoxied to a suction cup on the back glass in the after pic?

Almost two months ago I got this odd Seriatopora that's Bali aquaculture. Had been in the LFS tank for a bit, I had credit ... but didn't really have a good place to have it at first [remedied by re-aquascape :)] .... but I think I'm starting to see it's potential.

I figured it was worth a chance, would appear that if I do things right - I might have a purple polyped one. Or so I'm hoping/guessing - figure the aquaculture guys didn't grab a bum one ;)

Currently I'm a little worried - as the top is fairly bleached [polyps, just zero color] ... but hopefully the good flow, lower light will suit it better.

Yup, a frag I got on Christmas eve.

Figure I've not had success mounting to glass - but really like the overflow mounts I've had [there's a couple more as of yesterday] - so hopefully the suction cup will hold the 2 months it'll take to encrust onto the glass where it can hold itself [I hope].

At worst, figure it's reef-safe material I can dremel off if needed

Like it?

Love it!! Very creative!! Hmmm.....do I have some suction cups laying around?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Great idea Mark, and great
looking tank.

Now if I can only get off the couch to do it. :p

One big reason to adjust everything was to make room for my green slimer - which has grown quite a bit in two years ;)

One thing I've noticed about very `slimy' Acropora is that after sliming - they tend to look quite pale. Due to repeat removal from the water in the last 48 hours ... my green slimer has very little color to the flesh.
Far more pale that I like, and while I know it's doing fine - obviously creating/removing all that slime cannot be without cost to the coral.

Anyway - pics if it in context, and a macro of the pale flesh/colorful polyp.

God I love the scraped black backround :)

Really hope it stays. It's a sweet frag.

And one more piece of eye candy before I walk to the video store with my wife. :)

Got this Maze Brain mid-summer from LFS trade for Acropora frags. I've always loved this style, and am very happy it appears to be doing just fine in my tank - been recently feeding it when I feed my Acan's. Hopefully it'll grow as fast.

The rearrangement looks nice Mark:D

I love that maze brain. I've been looking for something similar for my tank.

More pics for today ...

Today's theme, fuzzy corals :)

Yellow sarcophyton - fuzzier than heck

My green Poci - looking a little blue

My ORA green birdsnest ... always has been pale for me - hopefully it's new position will suit it better.
