Mike's 300 Double-D

I just found this thread Mike and Terry. I got one of these same tanks back in August, and am just now putting corals in. You've given me something to worry about, but I've had water in it for a few months and I'll keep my fingers crossed. Sorry to see that happen but it looks like you handled it as best anyone could have.

We just received some AWESOME news from our tank manufacturer. They are actively working on our replacement tank and it should be ready to ship to the distributor next week. Finally! We can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

That's fantastic guys!

We'll give you a few months to get it set up; then, it's

Oktoberfest meet at Mike & Terry's!

Thanks Rick. You've been been the best friend we could hope for through all of this. We are so looking forward to returning your beautiful Oceanic 350g tank to you. That tank is built like fort Knox!

Thank you for that tip. We have been looking around at replacement panels for the garage door, but we were looking at specialty places. We'll check HD for that. Appreciate the tip!

Great news, hope to see the tank soon :)

Thanks! Us too. All this waiting and waiting has been driving us crazy :spin2:

As a bit of an update:
We actually have gotten more concrete evidence that the tank is being built and nearly ready for delivery. The new tank will have several custom modifications from the factory, including bottom eurobracing, single centered-mounted overflow box, and closed-loop holes. Sadly, the Perfecto factory cannot accommodate the size holes in the bottom necessary for schedule-80 bulkheads, but we're assured that schedule-40 will be sufficient. Now, we just need to find the best schedule-40 bulkheads we can.

Here's the new tank design drawing:

Hopefully they get you the new tank soon. Love the center overflow. That's the one thing I'm not crazy about on my 300dd (the corner overflows).

We moved a copy of the tank drawing to Flikr as Comcast appears to be acting up:

Thanks launchnukes! We're hoping it won't be long now. We received another call from the manufacturer a couple of days ago and were told the tank is finished and will be loaded on the truck headed to the distributor in New York this coming Monday.

As for the overflow, we decided since we had to go custom anyway due to the addition of the bottom euro-brace, we'd move it center as we were not that thrilled w/the original corner overflows either.
:)

Great news Mike I can't imagine the electric bills trying to keep that large of a tank heated in a garage for has long has you have, what with the crazy weather you all have had. Mike

We thought we'd share some updated pics as we're "patiently" awaiting the arrival of our replacement tank:

The top fish is a flame wrasse but what is the green one?

I'm pretty sure the top one is Cirrhilabrus jordani (Jordan's Fairy Wrasse) ♂.

I think the one below is a Macropharyngofon bipartus (Vermiculate Leopard Wrasse) ♂ but it would be helpful to see the tail and fins displayed.

Thanks! We're getting pretty excited. The central Virginia climate is always like a roller coaster!

Its going to be even better.

We sure hope so. Maybe we'll change our handle to "phoenix-frags" :)

love the thread were you still using the Hamilton 14 K and how did you like the color and Par

Thanks. Hmmm, trying to remember what we were using right before the tank leaked. I believe we had Hamilton 14K 250W and the new 400W was a Radium 20K.

This is SUCH excellent news! So happy for you guys! Let us know when you need help getting everything done! We will be there! :-)

Thanks Trisha. We need to get over there and see y'alls set up. Is everything growing in nicely?

Correct. Top is Flame Wrasse:

Second is our African Leopard Wrasse, once beautiful female, turned handsome male:
