I was thinking the same Apa, rose bubbles are not cheap. I wish I had a problem with rose bubbles growing like weeds lol.

While the first few splits were cool to see, it got very annoying when they continued to not only split, but grow large enough that they filled half of the useable space in the old 50g frag tank. Needless to say, they stung and killed quite a few nice corals in that tank over the years. :headwally:
Apayan, we would never intentionally kill/dispose of the anemones and agree that we should all be doing what we can to promote sustainability and less wild harvesting in this hobby we love so much.
Terry and I are not really into selling (nems or corals) so we typically take the rbta's to an LFS for store credit. We have already found a good home for the resident lone Ocellaris clownfish, so once this batch of rbta's is gone, we will be anemone free at last! :dance:
Wayne, Yes they are, LOL. We've had them running for over 2 years without any issues. Can't say the same for the Ecoxotic Panorama Pro LED's on Terry's 30g rimless tank. :lolspin:

It sure does...
The acrylic box you see in the pic is a refugium area to grow a little chaeto and propagate pods. The box has a couple of baffles and is fed off of a tee from the return coming into the frag tank.

Mike & Terry's Annual Reef Party & Food Drive
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us this year for our Annual Reef Party and Food Drive to support the Central Virginia Food Bank. Last year, we collected 300 pounds of food for the CVFB, so this year we were aiming to top that with a goal of 400 pounds. As is typical with the great people in the Richmond Reef Club, everyone steps up when it comes to helping those in need. The turnout this year was fantastic! It was great seeing new faces as well as our old friends, and we are so grateful for the amount of support given for this year's food drive. Heading into the holidays, it's great to know that our club can get together to enjoy each other's company, celebrate our good fortune, and help those in our community who have fallen on hard times. The Richmond Reef Club has a lot to be proud of, and we're so happy to be a part of such a generous and caring group.
Each year we hold a raffle during our party. Raffle tickets are exchanged for items that go toward the food drive. We are working with local and national vendors in the aquatic trade to help us out with some worthwhile prizes. A big THANKS goes to those who pitched in for this worthy cause. There were quite a number of items in this year's raffle, and it was great to have so much participation. Hopefully, everyone walked away with something. Here are a few of the items in the list:

After carefully counting/stacking/packing up and weighing all of the food donations, the final tally is in! We collected 849 food items weighing in at a whopping 675 pounds - more than DOUBLE last year's contributions! :bigsmile:
The truck is loaded up and heading over to CVFB:

Thanks guys! We had a blast hosting the party/raffle and could not have asked for a better turnout and support from our fellow hobbyists. Our only regret is that we did not take pics of the actual event. :facepalm: We will have to recruit a couple of amateur photographers for next year.

Now that the dust has settled after last week's reef party, we are focusing our attention on some much needed coral pruning. Thought we'd share an updated FTS before we thin out the Green Slimer and beat back the montipora colonies:

Thanks to both of you big time for putting together one of the best reef keeping threads I've read. I started reading to show my wife how good our 250DD will look when up and running. I then got captivated by your trials and tribulations along the way. You have adding many ideas to my build and helped me avoid problems that would have happened but hopefully I can avoid.
Your ability to keep beautiful colonies of SPS is fantastic. Terry's work with the camera is amazing. Your tank has helped me keep my DD build going with motivational pictures for my wife. She really likes your Wrasse collection. Keep the updates and pictures coming. Great work on the food drive as well. It seems anything you guys do you do well.
