Mimic Filefish - Pairing?

Ok, so I've had a mimic filefish for over a year, he's great he's perfect, I love him to death.

So I finally decided to get him a girlfriend a few months back, I just kept an eye on stocklists, and they showed up back in stock last week. Fast forward to today, and she's here!

Except... she's big. Bigger than my current fish, and more elaborately colored. I know these fish are protogynous hermaphrodites, so I gather that the new one may be male, or I may have two males or two females (in which case I may have a problem...). Does anybody know what the gender diffs are in these fish?

But that's not what's really worrying me. What's got me MOST concerned is that the new fish has "hooks" sticking out from the base of its tail, looks like two sets of double-hooks on each side of his/her body. *** is up with that?!

Well, to partially answer my own question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filefish

"There is marked sexual dimorphism in some species, with the sexes possessing different coloration, different body shapes, and the males with larger caudal spines and bristles."

My current fish has zero spines and zero bristles. The new one is downright "furry" towards the rear... some hope for a pair still.
