mineral or miracle mud?

which should i use in my new sump? any prefrences out there? and how much of each, what are the benifits of one over the other?

Good quality live rock and some time is all you really need. If you want some sand diversity, ask the folks in this forum if they can donate a cup to your system. I'll bet almost everyone would give you a cup, and you'll get just as much benefit. You can't have any of my sand because... well I have a BB tank.

I have the ecosystem 40 for which the miracle was made for. I've used both the miracle mud and regular live sand. Both gave the same results.

Miracle mud is expensive for a reason.

whats that reason jeff ive herd same results as good live sand and others saying mircale mudd is the best ..

Personally i use live sand. The different refugium muds are fortified with iron which slowly releases for the macro algae. You have to replace the mud ever so often I think it's every few years or something like that.
