Minh's Green Haddoni

OrionN

Moved on
I bought this Green Haddoni for fairly cheap 3/22/2014. He was originally sold by Petco to a local novice reefer who did not have the setup for Carpet Anemone. The anemone was sick, deflated a lot and was bought to a LFS. I saw him there at the LFS. Knowing that he was deflated and sick, the LFS owner sold him to me for 50.00. I bough him home treated him with Cipro for 7 days. He seem to be doing well so I finally put him into my DT. After 6 weeks in the tank, he appears to be not well. I am worry because he is in a tank with 8 other host anemones.
He is doing a little better every day, so I think I will just leave him be for now.

He eating without any problem. I just fed him 2cc of salmon just about 15 mins before taken that last picture. He is one of the brightest green Haddoni I have ever seen.

He doesn't look that bad to my untrained eye (Although the open mouth does worry me haha, so I'm learning!). He's beautiful!

He is not dug in and not fully inflate and his mouth is still large. He does not deflates, attached to the rock and eating are the only good things. At 6 weeks, he should be fully dug in and settle in.

I had to treat my whole system for this reason. used lots of cipro but nothing died. not a coral , other inverts, nothing.. I also have a friend who feed his nem straight ground up cipro with great results.

Very beautiful......I am so jealous of you people that can buy beautiful colours anemones in the us. The lfs here in Hong Kong don't order expensive colours anemones like red or blue or bright green haddonis . Just saw 1 lfs with blue gigs , but all very bleached. Peoples here will not spend that much on rare colours anemones or corals. I really want a sunburst bta, but there is no way that I can buy it here. :(

I think I am going to check my local petco tomorrow hoping to find a mag, watching you guys pick up more anemones is killing me. :spin1: I don't have any good LFS that carry them and I have never stepped foot in my local petco lol.

I would not recommend a mag from petco. They will be in horrible shape if they even have one.

the way my work schedule, I am at a Nursing home near Petco every Tuesday and Thursday, the days that they get shipment in. After I finish with work, or if I hav etime I grop by before seing patients there. That is why I often see anemones as soon as they come in. The store here is OK, they keep their fish diseas free, but certainly don't have enough light for their corals and anemones. They often have a lot of small dab looking Haddoni and Atlantic Carpet. Rarely they have Gigantea.
a few months ago, they got a shpment of Magnifca that was very colorful. It was too bad that it was on eof the Thursday that I did not have a chance to come by. By Tuesday the Mag was in such poor shape that I choose not to throw away my money. They may come in poorly to start with. With early treatment, they may recover but after almost 1 week in that thank, there is just too big of a gamble for me.

I think I may start contacting fish stores in Cincinnati OH about obtaining a mag, 2 hour drive but might be worth it to get a healthy anemone.

I too hope he will pull through. He seem to be about the same. He is really, really nice. His oral plates is purple, fairly dark with brightest green tentacles.

He is doing better. Here is a picture this AM.
He is not fully inflated yet but not deflate either, He have not dug in but fully attached to the rock jut at the surface of the sand. He have
not move from where I placed him either. I guess it is not infection but some internal damage. He is eating well. I fed him last night and he eat very quickly like all haddoni should eat. He looks the best and more extended than the whole last week.

Since he have not deflates and have look a little better each day, I have not remove him from DT to my QT. I think it is internal damage rather infection. Hope he will be able to recover for me.
