These are so beautiful. I have recently purchased one of these and when I did I had the LFS to leave it on it's rock where it seemed to be very attached to and not put it through too much stress when shipping. Crazy....but it has moved off it's rock and settled into the sand. It is not seeming to open up fully as it was. Is this ok for it to settle in the sand. Most of them I have seen have been up and out of the sand? I gave it some Rod's food and it devoured it in a short time. I have read the write up in Coral Magazine about these along with other blogs, but everything says different things about these beautiful creatures. I also know that they do not host clown fish which I have in my tank. Any and all info on these anemones I would really appreciate. Thanks! Seems to be not bothering anything, just lounging around where it settled into the sand?????

Pentrix2......it has been in the tank for 2 days. I will try to get a pic. Never posted a pic on here, but I will try. Just worried about it staying in the sand. The sand is not real deep, so maybe it has attached part of itself to the glass on the bottom of the tank. Sand probably about an inch and a half in that particular spot. These anemonies are so awesome and what fantastic colors they come in. I'll try to get a picture of it, but won't probably be able to post it til later on today or tomorrow. Have class today

The Coral Magazine article by Morgan Mok is dead on accurate. Just picked up two maxi-minis at her place yesterday. Turn off the flow in the tank and put them where you want them. 15 minutes later, turn the flow back on and they'll stay put. Color depends a lot on lighting.

I might have to move it. It is still on the sand, but seems to be doing OK except for the fact of it keeps getting sand on the top of it which then ends up where its mouth is. I kept wondering.....How is it getting this sand on it? By the way this beautiful creature is sitting in a little alcove not far from the live rock. As I walked up to the tank to look at it, I noticed sand being thrown somewhere by the rock behind this anemone and towards the anemone and thought to myself...I don't have anything in my tank that would do this like a goby. As I'm looking closer where it's coming from I notice a yellow tail in a small crevice in the rock. I'm thinking....what the heck it's the yellow tang doing that. All of a sudden the fish pops up and I realized it was my blue hippo. I really had to chuckle around at that. I was having the hardest time trying to figure out where the sand was coming from because the flow is not strong in that area. Maybe that area is where the Blue Hippo rests and backs into the back end of the crevice and flips the tail to keep afloat Maybe? I swear...saltwater tanks relly keep you guessing and your mind alert....Lol! Yeah I might move the anemone to keep the sand off. What you think, should I? :strange:

+1 to what Jeff said, this same trick worked for my maxi, it's been in the same spot for over a year even though i've change my flow pattern more than once in that tank. Saltwater tanks really do keep you guessing... it's not normal but i've seen a few pics of clowns being hosted my maxis.

Thanks Jeff for your suggestion, I will try that. If I can figure out where would be a good spot to move him.
Thanks Tahoe Reefer...I do have 2 percula clowns. They spend a majority of time more towards the upper third of the top of the water.
I will have to try and get a few pics on here of the tank. I have been stocking it very slowly. It seems to be coming along really well and this anemone is a great addition. I really like these. Might even get another if I find one that catches my eye. Oh btw to Tahoe reefer...on that first link that you sent, the anemone in the picture almost looks like the one I have...Thanks!
