mini-rant on Streams

I would expect about 10 years but this is like a car lasting ten years, you have to take care of it and it doesn't mean parts won't need replacing now and again. I wasn't aware of any price gouging, I saw some around Christmas on eBay but is this a recent problem? I can promise you this if you place an order with one of our dealers in the next month or two you will get it at the current price even if they put it on backorder.

Mag floats and a little super glue go a long way if you need a magnetic holder. Cost about $20 for 2 depending on which ones you use. Works for my 6100's

Tunze products are the best!

oops guess I should have looked to see it was an australian site that was 399 yesterday.
I guess it would be worth it if it actually lasted 10 years. I guess it's back to soup dinners. the sacrifices we make for toys.

Just wanted to say that I recently set up a seio pump and it was 10 times the nightmare of trying to attach a stream to my all glass 65. Additionally, the seio has stopped 5 times in the last month. It has to be tapped or hit on the side to get it going. IMO, its a low quality product. (Typical of Rio garbage) Also, suction cups are totally lame.

I don't disagree with you about the Seio pumps... this thread is not about the pumps! So folks, you don't need to hammer the point that you are in love with your pump (sounds kinda strange, doesn't it)... and that Seios are second rate pumps. I returned mine after 30 days.

However, I had the Seio mounted within 5 minutes of opening the box and it was solid. And if you read this thread, you'll see that people are actually using the Seio brackets to mount their Tunze. What does that tell you?

Achilles, I like that MagFloat idea! I will have to try that one!

i actually like the brackets they are very versitile and the quality lets face it is as good as any other pump hanger. i love the easy at which i can adjust the height and the fact that i can remove the pump for cleaning with out disasembling anything.
how about the brackets ability to point the pumpin various directions a very nice radius i would say.
I personally do not like the magnet looks bulky but if i had the space would opt for stream rocks in a heart beat

but i do understand the person with an acrylic tank that has perimeter bracing would be very frustated if they did not realize there mounting issue pre purchace.

very nice product Roger

Left and right, not up and down. And I think it's a little more restrictive than the standard mounts.

If you make it to our May meeting I'll show you Rob. I've got two 6100s mounted with the magnets (and have the standard mounts as well that you can see, I'm just not using them).

matt I saw them but yours are pretty straight. I just wanted to mount them and turn them sometimes if needed that is perfect I think. I like the magnets much better. when john s come on they jump around a good inch or so

As for the mounting hardware, only had one problem that was easily fixed. they wouldn't fit on my black plastic rim, I went to the hardware store, found machine screws that matched the thread ( i think the legnth was 70MM.... ), and used longer screws. Pumps have been running for over a year now, no problems, no difficulty putting them in, and they do not move. I really think the longer screw can fix most american tank issues (the black rim).

Just a thought

Then what's the problem? :D
Buy the magnets.....
Make the rocks to accept the 6200's, and I see only a REALLY cool product.

I agree that the AGA tank bracket is a pain. I had to use them until the magnets came in. It took me a good 30 mins to install and even them I was not confortable with the strength of it. Having said that, I don't expect Tunze to add the magnet for free. Yes the pumps are expensive, yes it would be nice if the magnet was included for the same selling price. But as Roger said, exchange rates for the US dollar SUCK!! And the cost of the pumps are justified by the quality. They are the BEST pumps out there bar none! And if I have top pay another 30-50 for the better bracket then thats what has to be done.

Now, when the exchange rate turns in our favor(and it will turn) does that mean the price will be lowered?? :)

Something tells me the price won't get lowered until (if?) something better comes out from someone else.

Yes, it would be lowered. The price is set on par with the Euro. It would take a year or until the new price list comes out after the rate came down. Unfortunately no major bank or economist predicts the Euro will drop in the next 3 years. Tunze has only had 2 price increase in 12 years so the prices don't change much outside of the exchange rates.
