Keep in mind I'm new to this thread so I'm not sure how much feedback you typically provide to each other, I for one love brutally honest feedback, comments, and criticism. That said, in order of submission;

Cody - This is a great example of minimalism, I would have liked a little more of the jet, a Raptor? But the lens flare really made up for it. Great Shot!

Mine is a basic pajama cardinal, I was actually trying to get my pair face to face but they just wouldn't cooperate. I did a fair amount of cleanup post.

JJudge - Ohhhh I love the creamy bokeh! Tack sharp on the back but slightly soft on front. You clipped the leg which made it a little unbalanced. Overall a great shot! Play with the crop, try getting rid of the bright spot top right and cutting down a little on the negative space and I think it will be a very strong image! The subject should always be the brightest thing in the image (with a few exceptions). :)

Misled - Tack sharp! Good still image. I can't decide if I like the penny slightly angled or better if it was straight. Could just be my OCD kicking in. Well done.

And the winner is......

Cody! Great use of negative space, the flares worked in your favor on this one!

haha, I thought Paul won and was passing my congrats to him. Whoops!

It's a Raptor, and it's a series of lucky shots while the jet was landing. Here's the sequence I got, burst mode from my Note 4. The lens flare was a happy accident and I'm glad it fit this theme.

I almost went with #3, but thought the jet partially out of frame was a little more interesting. The next day, that jet would have been behind a grey sky...it's been raining since.

I'm flattered with the win. I thought that the other photos topped mine, and the competition was tough between them. I got by with luck and a sunroof shot...the others were definitely better displays of skill.

I've been enjoying my back yard a lot lately...so let's call the new subject "Outside"

Tinpanva - Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate brutal honesty as there is no other way of knowing where you can improve. I was going through my other takes of the same subject and i clipped that leg in almost all of them.

As for the crop, I am glad you pointed out the bright spot, as I too though it wasn't the best to leave in, but wasn't sure how much negative space to cut out for the theme, so this is exactly what I needed to hear.

Here is the re-crop

This one is the only one with all 4 legs, but I feel it is a bit too soft.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Congrats Cody on the win.

Everyone else, great shots as well.

JJudge, no problem! I'm glad you found it helpful, I think the image is much stronger now that my eye doesn't get pulled to the hot spot. You could also try to burn it a little to drop the brightness, but cropping is much easier and really didn't hurt the amount of negative space too much.

I think I have to agree, I thought seeing more of the jet would be better, but as fine as the #3 shot is, I like the mystery of #4 better. Good choice!

FWIW, on mine, the penny is standing on edge. I did straighten it in PS, but thought it being a little off gave it a sense hanging in space. Anyway, I was going to do something really out there by adding one letter to the subject.

Mini mall

Old picture, so it doesn't qualify for the contest. Results of a couple days prospecting in Ohio. Don't spend it all in one place.

Ohio Gold.

Mini Mall would have been pretty funny in this thread.

I had no idea that penny was standing up on end. I had just assumed it was laying on a black surface or something.
