minimal time for tank to become ich free

came home today to a busted qt tank. Had to put two clowns back in display that had been fish free for 30 exactly days. Anyone had success with a 30 day or less treatment or should I just go ahead and start over? The clowns had been visibly ich free for 3 weeks.

Did you mean hypo when you said qt? I have a friend (wolf pup)that had his fish in hypo for 6 weeks and after introducing the fish back to the display tank had an outbreak of ich right away. He redid the hypo for 8 weeks and all was fine.

10,000 cases of ich on here and no input/advice/suggestions?

It's really hit or miss. When it's something that is depended on knowing when the last ich fell off and when the last cyst actually released. 4 weeks is cutting it close, but there is an outside chance that there are cysts that haven't released yet. I don't believe that anyone can tell you one way or another. If it were me, I would restart. But, that's a long time. Weigh your options on both sides, "Am I willing to fish the fish out again if it didn't take?" better yet, if you have a set-up QT still (you mentioned it busted) leave them in the QT for another 2 weeks or so for observation.

this is the route I'm going. Heading to the store to pick up another tank after work. Always keep a sponge in my dt so I'll be up and running this afternoon.

Was hoping to hear some success stories of a 30ish day free ich tank.

The life cycle of ich isn't always consistent - further water temperature also impacts life cycle. Not sure what I would do in your situation .. one of those "risk assessment - are you feeling lucky situations. If I have a very large show tank which would make QTing when fully stocked impossible I would probably do a "redo" .. if I had a smaller tank I might take the chance.

34 gallon solana. temp stays at 80. 4 fish and maybe 5 will ever be in there at the same time.

Just reached 4th week of hypo. No outbreaks in a small crowded tank but the ich continues to survive. Temp 81. I just decided to bring up the salinity and go with Cu.

I just wonder If an outbreak will occur as the salinity increases and at what ppt to add Cu. I guess I'll run a UV until I reach the display salinity.

just wanted to give an update on this thread. I rolled the dice and left the clowns in the tank. As of today, still ich free. I did lose one of the clowns yesterday from a jump. Still would never go just 30 days if I have to do it over again.
