Minimalistic multichip DIY LED build

Marspeed - Do you sell those boards etc? I went to your website but it doesn't look like there is anything on it yet. I was attempting to make my own LED's as well but got a little overwhelmed with how to do it. Do you sell a kit?

I have the 5 channel 100w chips similar to the ones themaddhatter was talking about.

my screw shield and dosing pump or universal board also isolated power and data atlas stamp board ignore the branding that was for a friend of mine

because LGB got them from china i suspect they made a deal and the manufacture holds the licenses witch is common with the Chinese when they design and manufacture something for you not to mention they were advertizing them with the lgb logo still on them last year oops

Lol! Oops indeed! So, I'm pretty sold on the lumia 5.1 since it's now in my price range. I think I'll still go with the makerled 6" heatsinks for the pendants. They should have enough room for some moonlighting as well.

I read alot of posts here but not all...

I currently have a RR94 tank and am running $2 led chains as its fowlr. Now I am looking to add a chip led to it and stumbled across this...

Now its super cheap, but as a test I may get one. I suspect this will be overkill for my tank so the driver may need to go in the bin but the cool white is 6500k and its 100W so I reckon its worth a punt!

The Lumia 5.1 from LGB and the one on AliExpress are the same part. LGB designed them and had them built to their specs. In order to get the cost of the pucks down, LGB had to commit to buy a certain number of parts. LGB sold them for a full year and was not able to sell them all. I believe they then sold them to aliexpress as a bulk sale (that's what aliexpress does is buy bulk lots and sell them). That's why they have the LGB logo. There are other sites selling the Lumia 5.1's as well.

The 5.1 is no where near the quality of the Lumia 5.2. The 5.2 has all Cree or Exotic LED's and the puck is actually manufactured by Ecotech. The 5.2 is one incredible LED puck. Krazie :jester:

I'd take the reef labs board over the 5.1 any day of the week, better quality by far and might be just what you are looking for. I forgot about them, I've heard nothing but good things from people who have used their boards though.

That's what I'm thinking too. I like the way they cluster them too. How to you feel about their 7X driver board. I'm not familiar with the type of drivers they use. I'd eventually like to be able to hook up to a Reef angel controller but I might sprint for either a storm or the ones reefll.com sells.

i am using this for five channels + moon lite

Wish I would have come across these boards before I ordered my standard wired version of the LDD's :( I bet it would also help keeping them a bit on the cool side. Mine seem to get a wee bit hot during my last test although I still need to adjust PWM and dim accordingly. The Borealis are way too bright at full power and I have two over a 40 breeder. I may just use one.

I've not seen anything negative about them and the design looks solid.
