Minor set back

As most know I am rebuilding my reef. Well, after 6 years of never having gotten ich, ALL of my fish came down with seemingly over night. In the last 4 days I have lost my 6 year old mated pair of false percual ocellaris, PJ cardinal, jaw fish, flame angel. I am so upset! I am guessing that the rest of my fish will perish in about a day or two. Its a sad week....

That's a really fast die off rate...I don't think ich works so quickly...but I can't be certain

Sorry to hear of your losses...

sent from never never land...

Wow, I'm sorry. I didn't think ich worked that fast. Maybe it was brooklynella. I think that is more serious. Either way, it's heartbreaking.

Well that Sucks!!!!, losing just one is awful but to lose most of your tank just sucks.
hope you recover soon, best of luck.

Sorry I never updated this. Yes, all of my fish died. The last one died on about Dec 22. I am waiting the 29 days for the cycle to break and then I'll try adding a cheap fish to see how it does. It was heartbreaking.

Can't wait to see the new family, love fish shopping. 2 sweetlips, a unicorn tang, and 3 triggers is my vote.

If it's Ich, twenty-nine days is too few. Your display tank should stay fallow for seventy-two days. Even that length of time has been shown to be too short for some unusually resistant strains of the parasite. The rate of death of your fish seems to be too fast for Ich. If it was something else, the fallow period might differ.

What a shame. My 72 only has three old fish in it because I'm too chicken to take the chance of adding another fish. My family complains that the tank is boring, but these guys have survived while others have perished, and I just don't want to risk it. Dave, best of luck restocking your tank. At least you'll have the excitement of buying new fish!
