Mirage hotel aquarium

holy smokes 13K a month? I wonder if they have a leak or they just like to change that much water?

At 5000 pounds of salt per 100% water change, they are doing ~2.6 100% water changes per month, so about a 10% per day. They shouldn't even need filtration at that rate. Must be nice...

I just saw it when I was there and it was amazing!

Mandalay Bay also has a nice Shark Reef exhibit. There's an open tank where you can touch the rays and other life. They have a ton of cool very large reefs, and even some croc and FW exhibits.

sweet, we are going to Monterey in September. :D We are planning on doing some whale watching while we are out there, oh and checking out the aquarium too. I heard it's really nice. :D

Monterey is an older aquarium, impressive with the tall fish tank, but I wish they had a large reef display.
Now Long Beach I really liked, and I am looking forward to Georgia in September because I like seeing a coral reef display. The older ones like scripps, monterey, long island, steinhardt are all pretty outdated and not near as cool as the modern ones with modern reef tanks I think.

Now Monterey Bay has a great white shark right now I believe still, so that alone will be completely worth the trip if they have it when you are going!

ok, I found them....

here was one of their reef tanks.

huh not bad, I haven't heard of that one, I like the tank full of fish.
The more public aquariums I visit the more it takes to impress me though. I still say the denver aquarium has a nice reef tank and an overall nice aquarium. I really want to get up to the omaha aq. they have a very large reef display thats top notch from what I hear!

the large Reef Fish display is what sold me on that one. I still want to go to the Georgia Aquarium, and the Wikiki Aquarium...

Wife and I are talking about going to the Baltimore Aquarium in a couple of weeks. We will see if we make it up there.

its nice, crowded on the weekends though. the inner harbor is really nice, there is plenty to do down there. the shark encounter is the best exhibit, as is the dolphin show.

Having been to many of the aquariums listed above, I have to say the most impressive that I have been to is at Xcaret in Mexico. It is huge and beautiful, with a natural tidepool constatly changing the water and the lighting supplied by natural sunlight.

If anyone make it down to Cozumel or Cancun, it is just south of Paya del Carmen.

I did not take any pictures as my only camera that day was my underwater, and it was in the locker. I will look for a link, but I am sure it will be generic since the park is vast and the aquarium is a small part of it.
