Missing part

I just received my Aqua Medic Turboflotor Multi skimmer (order # 100386085, thanks!) and seem to be missing the O-ring that goes where the collection cup attaches to the body. Any chance you guys can get one sent to me? :)

Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the post and it was nice talking to you today. Yes please do post some pictures so we can get it all taken care of for you and get the correct part needed. Like I mentioned in our phone conversation I don't have any spare parts, but I can get what you need from Jeremy at Aqua Medic when they return to the office on Tuesday from the Memorial day Holiday. Thank you so much for your patience.

Hi Walter -

Thanks for calling me about this - it speaks a lot for your company

In the pictures below you can see the 3 different parts - collection cup, middle piece (don't know what else to call it!), and the skimmer body. The collection cup fits snuggly inside of the top of the middle piece, but the middle piece in turn fits loosely inside of the top of the skimmer body.

You can see in the second picture that there isn't much to connect the middle piece to the body; there's just that little 1/8" or so lip at the bottom of the middle piece that sets just inside the top of the body. And as you can also see, the flanges on the middle piece don't go anywhere near where it looks like they're supposed to (the fatter part of the body piece).

The middle piece is one piece, with no O-ring that I can see. It's made of the 2 visible black parts that are very firmly attached around a clear cylinder. I believe things would break before either of the black pieces could be twisted off the cylinder. In looking it all over again, I'm not even sure where I'd put an O-ring, assuming it goes somewhere between the middle piece and the body.

Let me know if you need any other pictures - easy enough to take them :)

Thanks!

-Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the pictures, I just left you a phone message...
so I just figured out that the middle piece that you have in your hands in Photo 3 is an extender it basically extends the neck of the collection cup for drier foam, so the piece in your hands that that we are trying to put on top of the skimmer, is where the collection cup goes.
Now if we try to remove that piece that is on the skimmer body by gently twisting it to the left with just a little force we should be able to remove that one piece, now look either on the actual piece we just removed or in the skimmer body where the grooves are there should be a O-ring. Now that same O-ring can also be used on the other piece that is in your hands in Photo 3. What I have found out just now that it is pretty much impossible to use both pieces at the same time.

Like I mentioned before If the o-ring is missing or you want a back up for those Just in case days, I can contact Jeremy at Aqua-medic and have them send you one.

Thanks again for your nice comments and your patience!

Walter -

Thanks again for your help! The skimmer is up and running, and now I'm just waiting for it to break in.

I'm very impressed with the level of customer service you and Marine Depot offer, even with stupid-user problems

I will without doubt continue to use Marine Depot as my first-line source of reef-related products.
