Missing Super Male Flame Wrasse... of course in the overflow...

Yesterday evening we had to leave to get my Mother In Law from the airport and I glanced at the tank...

Something just seemed off and after a few moments I noticed that our super male Flame Wrasse was nowhere to be found.

Decided to drop a little food in to see if he'd come out... since he's ALWAYS out... and nothing...

Looked everywhere inside and outside of the tank and nothing.

After a few hours of worrying, I got out the ladder and looked in the overflow. Sure enough there was a little bit of red and yellow in there.

After finding a net that would fit in the overflow I got him back into the tank.

It's funny since there is maybe a gap of 1/4" on the sides of the overflow and the cover I built for it. The front is flush in the acrylic.

I added a bit of eggcrate to the cover to remove the gap and am hoping for the best now...

Just funny such a large fish (5") could get through such a small gap. First time it's happened in about a year and a half. :headwalls:

LOL... good thing he didn't decide to investigate the three through white things in there...

My Royal Gramma used to do that on a regular basis. Fortunately, he has decided to create a network of caves under my rockwork instead.

Yeah, they'll find just about any opening. I have a permanent 1 1/2" square cut in my screen top so I can get the nori clip in and out without removing the top. Yesterday one of my resplendent anthias 'found' the hole and was expiring on the rug. Got it back in the tank, looked like a goner initially, but is out and swimming this morning. I guess I'll have to block the hole. It's always something!

Silly fish all of them!

He's been better, no hiding the last few days :)

Did you get the Earls out OK ?
