Mitras sales and pricing important answers

Hi everyone,

I felt it important to share very openly with everyone the pricing strategy of GHL Mitras in North America to hopefully alleviate the requests we get for the next discount deal.

When Mitras first launched the price was $1,199 however we decided to offer spontaneous discounts when the Euro was weak enough to allow. As the Euro stabilized below expectations we kept it at the discount level of $999 a 17% discount! Thats Huge by any standard.

We did this so people who may have purchased out of a discount period did not feel hard done by, employing a year round discount in effect benefited all not just the few.

Time has now come that the $999 price has been seen as standard and we are seeing many many hopeful new Mitras owners emailing us or writing on forums that they are waiting for "the Easter discount" fathers day discount" etc etc. Sadly this is just not going to be. The $999 price is the discount, it always was and always will be, when this price no longer can be viable the MAP price of $1,199 will be put back in force.

In reality we are fighting very hard to not increase the price back to $1,199 right now due to he Euro going up so strongly on recent months and no sign of a drop back. In January we where purchasing $0.20 to the dollar cheaper than we are now. To keep the $999 price, dealers have been very kind to cut their margins to way below industry standard.

So the bottom line is $999 for a GHL Mitras still the worlds technically advanced lamp and probably the most reliable (not a single unit warranty failure ever reported to us in 2 years what so ever) is an amazing price and I hope everyone sees the real deal that remains open today for all.

I hope this write up gives some insight and openness into pricing and reassures those that email us regularly asking when the price will come down.

All the best
Michael

do you have a roadmap of future releases so we can make an educated decision about a few thousand dollar purchase, the 6100 and 6200 came out each year in May so would a new LED model be coming out this may again ?

Yep, firstly there is confusion in the question which I will clear up

the 6100 is NOT an old model it is a variant, the 6200 offers more of the spectrum very much requested within the North Aerican market, a more blue emphysis where as the 6100 is more natural favoured in Europe and elsewhere.

So both are current models the only difference is the LED's used. However we only import to North America the 6200 unless requested on special order the 6100

Onto future road map, basically there is not one, the mitras was designed miles ahead of its time with technologies still not seen in other lamps such as the specially engineered reflectors and also linear dimming technology which is paramount for smooth natural curves and also producing rolling cloud cover, which is not a gimmick but a very important feature to give corals natural resting times from strong PAR just as in the wild.

So to put it more simply there has never been an updated model, just a different spectrum option for a dedicated market. Both models are current and offer the same features other than spectrum.
