Is the mitratus reef safe or no? LFS over here has a 2.5 incher for $140.
they are not easy to keepnot easy to get feeding, and the track record is not good.
I haven't kept this exact species personally, but this is the opposite of my experience, and readings, about Roaops butterflies in general.
My pair were absolute pigs upon entry and were about the same size. My fav roaops actually. I gave them up with my burgessi and declivis when I combined tanks however...

then I guess we have different experiences and have read different sources about butterfly fish.
they are not easy to keep from my experience and from RC threads. many agree with me on this.

I have had a pair for two years now and no problems...

Beautiful pair. Any ideas how old they are? I thought adult mitratus had no white on them as adults.
Not sure how old they were when I got them but they weren't much smaller so they were not juvies.
Here is a shot of them in my Q-Tank two years ago...

Thanks for the info. Once again, beautiful pair! I may need to consider adding one to my collection![]()
