Mixing anthias with exsisting anthias...Resplendent, Bartlett's, Carberryi

I have a 210 mixed reef and it currently houses a pair of Resplendent anthias. They are settled in and doing well. I would like to add different anthias to them. I am thinking of adding a pair or trio of Carberryi or Bartlett's or both? to the tank.

Anyone have experience putting these together?

How did they fair?

Foresee any problems?

Any other thoughts would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

I find bartletts too aggressive. I'd get some carberryi...they are on sale at LiveAquaria for a great price!

Thanks guys.

I might have to pull the trigger on those. I don't know if I can get enough other stuff to get free shipping, we will see.

You guys have a good way to QT these guys when you get a bunch of them(say 5 or so)? My previous experiences QTing Anthias haven't gone so well. They always kill the weakest one and so on. That is why I was thinking of only getting 2 of them. I have 29 and 20 gallon QT's always running.

I don't want to highjack the thread. Everything I read points to ventralis as expert only and not to keep them as a single but rather as a trio. eeeek idk they are gorgeous though!

I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning this! I've been planning on a group of five carberryi, which would have been $150 before shipping. I saw your post, immediately jumped on LA to check the price, and ordered as soon as I saw it. $95 instead of $150 for the anthias is a great price and I certainly would have missed it.

Sorry to derail! I just had to thank SDguy for the heads up. Saved me fifty-five bucks!

Well, I decided to go with Carberryi Anthias and I have to say I love the look. I just acclimated them to the main tank today, but it hasn't gone so well so far. The male Resplendent anthias has been going at the Carberryi's and forcing them up into one corner. The male Carberryi on a couple occasions has gone back at the Resplendent and they have opened their mouths while facing each other. The rest of the time has been a lot of flashing and chasing back to the corner by the male resplendent. I am pretty concerned at this point. I see tons of people with multiple species of anthias in smaller tanks than mine even, but I hope this goes better tomorrow. ugh.

The other problem I am having, with now having 9 fish in the tank, is that not a single one has decided to make their home on the left side of the tank. All 9 of them are living on the right side. The tangs are the only fish that go on the left side and they spend 80+% of their days on the right side. I don't get it. Never had this issue in any of my tanks before.

-start feeding only on the left side of the tank for a while. that'l get some fish moved over there

-probably would have been best to use an acclimation box for the new male... hope they work it out

The right-side thing may have something to do with the aquascaping, power-head positioning or that side of the tank may be more heavily "travelled" by people (near a door, hallway, etc.).

My guess would be flow.
My anthias usually take one side as well, but I don't mind because it looks more like they are shoaling.
Occasionally they will spread out and explore, but I actually prefer when they group tightly, guessing yours may spread out too after they acclimate to tank.
Mine are a mix of Lyretails and carberryi's.

I am figuring that as well. The traffic is actually the opposite however, the left side gets walked past a lot, and you can't walk past the right side.

I do feed both sides of the tank, but probably more on the right side. I am going to feed the left more.

The new anthias are out in the open right now, but the establish male is still making some runs at them. Hopefully it keeps getting better.
