Mixing Clowns

We currently have 2 ocellaris clowns in a 29g biocube. We upgraded to a 150g and would like to purchase different clowns (ones that will host a BTA) No current fish in the new tank.

Is this possible to mix new clowns w/ our current clowns?

If so, is it best to do it at the same time?

And what clowns would u recommend?

Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend it. It's best to keep just one pair of clowns per tank unless you have a very, very large tank. Once your pair starts spawning they will kill off any other clowns in the tank.

I think there is a very good possibility that your ocellaris will host in a BTA. And like Adrienne said, don't mix in more. I've seen clowns fight even in a 180g tank.

I was able to keep a pair of cinnamon's with an ocellaris pair for probably 6 months as juveniles. Unfortunately, once the cinnamon's starting maturing, they started to establish their territory and that included the whole 125 gallon tank. I even had 2 types of anemones in the tank at opposite ends and that didn't help.

Long term, it is very difficult to get 2 different types of clowns to co-exist.

I didn't have a 125 gallon, about half that, and mine fought. I had one female perc that just went Mike Tyson on the rest of the clowns. Had to separate after buying another tank, lol. Don't do it!
