Mixing filter media?

Is it alright to mix 2 filter medias in one bag? The 2 in question are Phosloc and activated charcoal. I just want to un-clutter one of the chambers in the rear of my tank and my luck I'd get a nuclear explosion mixing the 2! Thanks for any help!

I don't think it would be a problem, Black Diamond has a sister product that has white pieces mixed with carbon, im not sure what the white pieces are but its not carbon.

Maybe try this in the chemistry forum for a better answer.

Shouldn't be a problem. Seachem's Seagel is a mix of carbon and phosguard mixed together.

Agreed, no problems. Randy, the chemistry guru, runs his canister with carbon and phosphate media.
