Mixing Redlip Blenny/Lawnmower Blenny

Has anyone tried to put a Lawnmower Blenny with a Redlip Blenny in the same tank. I already have a redlip blenny in a 40 gal. tank and the tank is being overrun with short hair algea. The redlip blenny hasn't gotten rid of any of the algea and I'm trying to find something that will get rid of the algea. I've heard that the Lawnmower Blenny is the best for it. PLEASE HELP!

I would find another way to solve the issue. Not sure if they would get along or not, but your tank already has a high bio-load and adding another fish just might be the algae issue worse.

I couldn't agree more.

Lawnmower blennies get pretty big too and end up being fairly aggressive.

I'd look towards the source of your nutrient issue rather than at adding a fish to eat it. You might try some phosphate absorber and/or increased water changes. I raised my alkalinity and that seemed to help when I was fighting hair algae (a long time ago)...still have no idea why, chemically speaking.

No trying to bash you but having that many fish in a 40g could be a big part of your problem.

My LFS suggested I try the PURA Filtration Pad (http://www.marinedepot.com/PURA_Fil...ilter_Media-Magnavore-MN3311-FIFMMEPM-vi.html). I modified it to fit my filter and installed it yesterday. I'm hoping it will work.

Hey, no prob. That's why I use Reef Central, to get suggestions. I've been considering getting rid of my yellow tang some time now, but I love the shade of yellow it adds to the tank. Any suggestions of a replacement of a smaller size?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. When I get a chance off work I will be taking my yellow tang into my LFS for an exchange :(. Don't know what I'm going to exchange it for yet though.

Hey xxtriggermanxx, Thanks for the suggestion. Is that a canary blenny? If it is then I don't think I will be able to add it in my tank I already have a redlip blenny.
