Mixing Tangs

I know Tangs are difficult to mix, and I always thought it was only possible to do 1 per tank, however I see many folks on RC with more than 1 per tank. My tank is 87x24x20 inches (around 175g). With tank dimensions in mind, have any of you had success with more than 1 tang, and if so, which ones? I was thinking of perhaps some of the smaller/quieter tangs, like Yellow, Kole, or Two Spot Bristletooth. I'm staying away of purple/PB tangs.
 
I have a 6' long tank with a sohal (probably the most IDGAF fish, as in it could care less about anything else), an adult chevron and a purple (only harasses new fish for a moment and then has the same IDGAF attitude). Maybe I'm lucky with my sohal and PT. My sohal hasn't grown much, if any, in a year. Eats from my hand.

Do you know how large an Atlantic Blue gets?

I've had 10 tangs (out of 80 fish) in a 450g DT... Yellow, Hippo, Tomini, Bariene, Unicorn, Sailfin, 2 Purple, 2 Naso for ~5 yrs with no problems... They often swim as a group...
 
I have a purple,yellow desardin and a powder blue in a 8 ft 300 with no issues just added the powder blue my last fish
 
If you don't mix the genus - zebrasoma, acanthurus, etc - you will have better luck.
I have 3 in my 350 now, a Naso, a Powder Blue and Chevron.
I will be adding a Desjardini this spring.

9 inches according to live aquaria.

You have a nice collection!! I guess with such a large tank you can do that.

so doing, say, 1 zebrasoma yellow tang and a Ctenochaetus kole tang should be a safer bet than a Zebrasoma Yellow and a Zebrasoma Desjardini for example?
 
I have a 180gallon so similar dimensions. I have a Hippo, Achilles Tang, Vlamingii Tang, Desjardin's sail fin tang and a kole tang. For the most part it is fine not really a challenge.

Ah but purple are so nice :)
 
I have a 6 foot 150. Had an established 3-4 inch yellow tang. Months later added a 2 inch tomini tang. Many months later added a small 1-2 inch sailfin tang (Will rehome when bigger). All my tangs get along with the yellow tang occasionally asserting himself.

What really helped was using a mirror on the side of the tank for a bit and an acclimation box for a few days.
 
I have a 5 inch powder blue, a 3 inch yellow, a 5 inch scopas, two 4 inch sailfins, a 4 inch lavender, and a 14 inch vlamingii in my 180. They get along fine with my rabbitfish, a grey poma angel, a nox angel, and a Koran angel as well.
 
Mirror Trick has worked for me in the past as well to help newcomers get settled in. The bullies see themselves and get distracted.
