MJ Mod + MJ 1200 + 55g = Particle Storm

Hmm perhaps I should have orderd the low flow kit,

The high flow mod and the MJ 1200 have caused a huge
storm of what appears to be undissolved organics in my tank.

It does not appear to be blowing up the southdown sand, but I seem to have found the source of my small nitrate issue, and the stream mod seems to be holding the stuff in suspension, so maybe it will all go through the skimmer.

However the woods polyps and the xenia are not happy about it
I had to move the woods polyps.

I wish there were some way to valve the inlet vents and make the output controllable.

I could still see using it this way though I'd just need to put it on a timer of some sort.

Actually, I think this is exactly the effect you were looking for. Yes, it will take a while for things to re-equilibrate and re-balance. However, in the long run your system will be much healthier for it. Keeping crap in suspension is one of the major reasons for aiming for higher flow.

You might, however, need to re-position that xenia and wood polyps, however.... :)

Thanks for the report!!!

As far as just putting it togeather, it took me about 45 minutes
using a tube of super glue, a deremel and a box blade. The dremel was used for both cutting the different pieces and drilling the hole for the stop. I also used a small file to trim the flash off the vortex
shield, where it attaches to the maxijet body.

I didn't let it sit all night like they suggest in the directions,
most Cyanoacrylate adhesives set even faster in water than they do in air. I just let it set an hour after I finished, and stuck it in the
tank.

If I'm probably cursing myself, but I believe I'll probably
be able to assemble the 2nd mod in less than 20 minutes.

Make sure you use the vortex shield, this thing can suck a
vortex, while pretty deep in the water.

I've heard of people getting vibrations, but so far I'm not
hearing any. I used the carbon fiber rods rather than the
clear plastic stuff. The metal rod initially went in very tight
and I had to rout out the hole with the provided piece of
solid carbon fiber in the dremel.

Has anyone put one of these on a wavemaker type power bar?
