Mj Mods

I just got done building a couple of MJ1200 Mod kits from MJMODS. I was going to use them on my wave maker instead of my aquaclear 70s anyone have any problems with doing this?

I've heard some people have problems starting and stopping them. Also that there's a clicking noise everytime it restarts if it doesn't start in the right direction.

Reefchili made the parts and I put them together. I tried one of my tank last night and I think that it is a little over kill for my tank it was really whipping everything around so I might just put them in storage untill I upgrade tanks again.

Which propeller did you order? I'm guessing the Dumas 3004. If you use the Octura you'll be fine.

But don't use them on a wavemaker, it'll chew up the prop pretty fast. At least, don't have them cycling on and off any more than every couple hours or so.

if you use the MJmod on a wavemaker use some rubber tubing sticking out 3/8 inch from your stop peg (shorten the stop peg), let the prop hit the tubing only, not the stop peg, and it will work fine..

i had lots of problems till i swithched to this method and it works great.. if you want to come see mine let me know.. i have muine running on channel 1 and 3 on my wave strip, and it creates some dead time and then a surge type effect.. its awsome.

What size of a tank did you try it on? how many? and was it a MJ900 or 1200?

What is the benefit of using the Octura prop over the Dumas prop? According to MJMods.com, the Octura is approx. 500gph weaker than the Dumas.

(Now I'm thinking about switching to the MJMods b/c I'm sooo sick of my Seio ceramic shafts breaking )

Would like to get the 2000gph flow rate but not if the Dumas is going to cause problems for me. Supposedly the Octura only does 1500gph.

would running the smaller prop work on the larger shroud and would it cause less of an issue with the start up? I have a DSB and the current one that I made is just causing a dust storm in my tank and not to mention killing the softies. Within 2 mins the spaghetti and the devils hand and the Xenia all closed up to nothingness more so then they do at night.

Yes it will work and no will have same issue as the stopper is in the same location. It's merely a diameter change, not a length change, on the shroud.
