Modern Reef Aquariums

Resubscribing! I wonder how that purple wall will look behind that tank without the rockwork backdrop - probably a lot of cords and pipes!

i looked through like 20 pages of the previous thread before it was split...anyone know of a modern stand for a 46bow? i saw the elos 72g bow stand that was awesome i would like to set my bow up on a modern stand....or make one from an idea of theirs.

chad508, I was actually thinking about formica rather than paint. It just seemed like too much trouble to go through. Besides nice finished hardwood plywood paints really well. I used birch for the finished areas, 1 1/8 inch subfloor ply for structural parts, and oak ply for the top/bottom. The whole stand is made out of plywood.

Thanks for the comments.....

Rockwork was put there to cover the ugly blue background. As I got a smokin deal of $900 for this 300gal glass tank (new)

As for plumbing and wiring I will put my plumbing and elcectical work up agianst the best as this is what I do for a living. All electircal goes to a central control panel with an Allen Bradley SLC PLC that controlls all functions pumps, chem dosing. lighting times and ultrasonic auto top off via flowline and Thornton 770MAX for Salinity and flow monitoring for each pump

Picks were taken from Blackberry so quaility is not all that great.

Stand is 100% powder coated 2 x 2 1/4" thick metal.

Anyway Thanks....

Can you strip the blue and do a black background? Easy to do if its outside. If its inside of the tank - I think you could still do it, just have thin black pvc sheets with magnets attached. use magnets on the outside (like a tunze holder) and voila, you've got a clean black background, that is removable for cleaning to boot...

You can scrape the paint since it is on the outside. It would be kinda of a pain and would require removing with a razor blade then paint it black. Since I did not want to go through the trouble I decided to create the rock work. I got the idea from a LFS in Tucson, AZ where his 300 gal display had rock work in the back with some nice coarline growth on the back. I thought it looked cool so we decided to give it a shot. I did leave a lot of holes to attach frags to the back of the tank. Would I do it agian probably not....

IMO I'd remove it now before the tank is stocked, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like it, then keep it :)

Hi buddies...

Im from Mexico city.. and I will to install a tank in a new "modern house" (minimalistic)... I had open this thread http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=13406642#post13406642

This house is very amazing and really a very good piece of "real state".. I need to get the best shape and image into the house and into the tank too.. and I need some ideas...

I took a long time to read all the fist thread (40 pages) and I´ve take a look at your awesome tanks!!! really are nice!!! and maybe I could take some of your ideas...

If you can help me with I appreciated it...

Thanks.
