Modern Reef Aquariums

Thanks everyone!!!!

Cet98 - Thanks!!! It's .5" thick.

Paulie - Thanks for the compliment! I love the fans. They do a great job cooling the tank.

I'm wondering if anyone have an in-wall tank where the tank is flush with the wall. I'm in the process of setting up my 150 gal and looking for ideas.

Hi Everyone

I finally got around to putting the tank into the stand. Pity I wont be filling it until I return with it to Australia in August next year.. I needed some more space in my apartment though until I move, so I moved it into the stand. Here are some pics.

Hello,

First of all, I have to congratulate Cambarr for this great thread and all those that participated! Spectacular systems have been shared here!

I have been following this thread since the begining but only now I can participate in it with my project. It is still cycling as I am waiting for my T5 bulbs ( KZ). The stand cover is also in stand-by ( though I hope to complete it January) but the hardscape is done so, here goes:

berleinchmit...wow, beautiful set up!!!...
you really MUST give more info on it???...tank size (glass thickness?) and the light fixture...please!!!

very nice tanks and i am in no place to be critical...considering that tank beats mine lol...but why did you choose that color lockline instead of a low profile black...nothing wrong with it...just wondering....btw nice fresh planted tank...i like that look a lot.

That big german tank was 760 gallons......wowzers....

Tank Length = 157.48 inches
Tank Width = 31.5 inches
Tank Height = 35.4 inches

Tank volume is calculated as
Tank Volume = 760.2 Gallons

Hello,

cet98, thanks. The tank measures are: 100 x 60 x50cm or 40 x 24 x 20 inches ( Lenght x Wide x High), 300L or 80G. The glass thickness is 12mm and, as you can see, is rimless. The light fixture is a DIY with 6 x 39W T5 with individual reflectors and electronic ballasts Vossloh-Schawbe.

Marc, thanks. I visit your website regularly to continue my learning about this wonderful hobby. Please, keep up the good work.

Paulie, thanks. You can be as critical as you think you should be. The Forums are for that purpose too. :) I would definitely liked to get a loc-line dispersor all in black but the only store in Portugal that sells loc-line only had this coloured ones. I thought in painted them but I was afraid the paint I would use could be harmful for the fish and corals so, it stayed like that. Hopefully, when corals grow, I can hide the dispersor a little bit more... I have seen your loc-lines in the US and you are very lucky to get them in black and all kinds of shapes. I wish I could have them here too... Still, It does the job well in dispersing the water through the tank and for that, I am very happy.

I have created a thread on this project in the nano-reef section. Here it is the link, in case you want to know more about the system: 300L - First Reef . You can also click in my red house to see more pictures of my other interests within the aquatic hobby.

André - I saw that locline and your location and immediately figured you didn't have access to black in your locale. And while it sounds strange, I kind of like the colored ones because we don't have that choice here necessarily. www.modularhose.com does have them, but we usually don't buy them.

Hello,

well a better title would be "modern design reef aquariums"

I have so far seen that a lot of tank stands on the other side of the atlantic are some sort of "cottage or countryhouse style" as we call it in German... =more rustic).

Mine I would not classify as too modern design but as very simple from the stands point of view.
