Hope I spelled that right. How do you get rid of these pest?? I have bought Butterfly fish, Joes Juice. Scraped them of the rocks. I just cant seem to win. They just keep going and going and going. Please help me...... I will try to get some pics up tonight or tomorrow.

If you have a good pair of pointed stainless steel tweezers, you can grab hold of the base and rip them off. Scraping the rock doesn't get rid of the entire base of the anemone most of the time. If the rock doesn't have any corals attached, a FW dip will do them in pretty quick. Feeding your tank things that break down into small particles, like flakes or cyclopeeze, etc. will do a good job of feeding them and encouraging reproduction. Switching foods will slow down their reproduction and at least help you get them under control. hth
fwiw, these guys are a lot easier to get rid of than aptasia.

Vinegar injection with salifert test kit syringes can work well too. They are tougher to pierce than you would think. The only problem is that if you have as many as you say, it's tough to syringe the really small ones. Vinegar won't hurt you tank either, just go easy on it.

I tried to get a count and there is probably 40 of these little bas#^ds. I will end up having to break down the entire tank just to find them all. Its excessive. They just wont stop:mad2: .

If I do break down the tank and dip the rock in Freshwater for lets say 24 hours to be sure of their death. Would I need to be careful putting the rock back into the tank afterwards due to die off of the Coral line and other hitchhickers?

By the way Joes Juice, Kalk Juice, Boiling water....I tried these things and it seemed to only **** them off and promote more growth......Frustrating I know.....

I think 24 hours is way too much. I think 15 minutes should do it just fine. For some rocks that don't have many, you could just pry them off of the rock with a 1/2" chisel. I would avoid doing all the rock at one time. You'll basically make dead baserock out of it. fwiw, 40 isn't the worst I've seen. Have you thought about what you're feedin the tank inhabitants?

I used a good dose of joe's juice on mine, and it seemed to knock most of them out. I had a couple come back and I dosed them again, and they were gone. Best of luck

Joes Juice seemed to make mine come back in lager numbers. I would go with Peppermint shrimp or some type of natural solution.

Good luck.

My peppermints dont touch my majano I have 3 majano and 2 peppermints. I have slowly been getting a majano at a time by going in there with like a pocketknife and just cutting the rock they are on right underneath them. that way ya get the whole deal and ya can sit it in a glass and watch it dry out and DIE!
For the 2 i have jammed down into crevices i have not got around to their irradication as of yet, but they know im comming! Im thinking a injection with a needle of vinegar.

The only fish I know that will eat them is a racoon butterfly. I put one in my tank and he ate all that he was able to get to. He then started to eat my zoa's and leathers. I removed the racoon and now have the mojanos back. I mix kalk powder with r/o and it works well which is basically Joe's Juice. The mojano's injest the kalk mix and die. I will never get rid of them but do keep them under control.

If you only have a few, like aquarius77, and they are in really tough spots, you can try smothering them with epoxy. Just us ethe stick epoxy that folks use to attach frags and hold rocks together. Just mix it up and flatten it to the proper size and cover the area where the majano is.
