So I am having the issue with these guys. They are EVERYWHERE. I've dealt with aptesia, and I have been nuking these guys with kalkwasser paste, and it is not really working. Does anybody have any idea as to how to best get rid of these guys? Joe's juice Ive had bad experience with, and I have tons of feather dusters, so copperbands are a no go. Thanks guys.

Red Sea have new product out called Aiptasia-X and it makes the Aiptasia implode, people have had good experience but im not sure if it would work with Majanos, You could be the first one to try it.

My best bet is that its a colored kalwasser solution like joes juice. I mean, CaOH2 kills them, its just that they reproduce so well, i cant really stay on top of them. I guess i am mostly looking for a biologic solution

Go onto Marine Depot search for Aiptasia-x and it shows you a video its not like kalk or JJ.

From what it looks like, it looks exactly like kalk dosing.But hey, I am willing to try. Ill pick some up tomorrow at my LFS.

I think what is different about the Aiptasia-X is that it has an ingredient that makes the anemone want to eat it, so you don't have to inject it like JJ or kalk paste. You supposedly just put a blob on top and they suck it right up.

Yea, I never went to injections with kalk, I just put blobs on there to cover the suckers up
but hey, ill try it.

The video did not look like they eat it, but even kalk is reflexively eaten a bit.

Okay, so first of all... you are going to get 9000 different suggestions here, from sound advice to absurd. Prepare yourself.

Second, CBBFs don't eat majanos. They will eat aiptasias. There are butterflies that will eat majanos, and a few angels. Top of my mind would be raccoon butterfly and the bicolor pygmy angel. Both have issues, both will eat other things in your tank. Frankly, I don't proscribe to animals for majano control.

Now for the method I find best. The big difference between aiptasias and majanos as far as removal goes, is that majanos do not retract into holes in the rock. They mostly attach to surface rock, and you will be able to get under tham with a razor. So: take a clean razorblade, and work it under the base of the majano. I do this out of the tank when I can, but works either way. Scrape under him, he will pop off and float/sink. Suck him up in a baster and in the garbage. Repeat.

You may think this won't work, but it does. Unless you have a million of them already, you can battle and beat majanos. They grow slower and don't fragment as easily as aiptasia.

Interesting. Don't mojano's fragment just like aiptesia, and if i pry it off porous rock, wont i basically propagate them?

Just like? Not in my experience. Will they grow back if you leave some behind? Yes, I believe they do. But I am not suggesting any prying. Using a razor will take the whole critter, and it won't come back.
