Mono's Anyone?

In-A-Gadda-Divita!
Picked up 5 Mono Argentus (Monodactylus argenteus) from Reef Monsters today. They are a brackish fish that also does well in full SW. They remind me of one of my favorite FW fish, Silver Dollars.

Once they are paroled from QT, 3 will go in the 185 and the other 2 smaller ones will go into the 55g until they get bigger.

Beautiful fish and very active, but not spastic. They are also schooling fish!

Anybody ever keep Monos?

Awesome fish phil

Thanks!
Five of these guys in a 30g QT is hectic at feeding time, kind of like Piranhas! I think they are the fastest big fish I have ever seen in a tank! I always feed my new fish a good 5 to 8 times more than the DT fish and these guys act like they haven't ate in days with each feeding!

Very cool and beautiful fish, can't wait to see their colors in the DT's.

All were paroled from QT on Friday and are doing great. They are active, but not spastic and give the tanks some nice movement. Getting good pics is difficult because of their silver reflective skin and they are very fast.
They stay close to each other and school almost all the time. They have also become the pigs of the tanks with exceptional appetites! They also get along with everyone else, but trying to follow the Orange Shoulder (king of the tank) gets them chased away.

The two biggest went into the 185 and the other three went to the 55. Think I will move all to the 185 for one big school until they outgrow the 185.

Very cool fish!

Very cool fish. I used to have a brackish tank back in the day and had three of them, one of which was bigger than my hand!

As I had read, their colors become very vibrant when in full salinity and I will verify this as the yellows have really brightened up! The fish store had them in 1.019 (Typical LFS Sa...) brackish is 1.015 and was told they were in brackish before they got them. I have had them in 1.027 for the last week before they were QT paroled and did that slowly.

Makes me want to try other brack fish, I hear FW mollies can be converted to full salt?
