Monster Cichlid Tank

I rescued 10 convict cichlids and in the process received a 100G Sea Clear System II tank, Marineland 360 filter, and other items for free. Ten may not sound like a lot, but none of these guys are exactly small. The smallest ones are 2 inches and the biggest ones are 5 inches. Their tank was in poor condition and the fish are a bit rough around the edges - literally. Their 100G home is offline pending repairs. I have them in a temporary hospital tank as they were not in the best of health. They are eating and looking better. I haven't decided if I want to keep them, but the longer I look at them the more I want to give them a better life.

I used to breed convicts. Got an A on a science project I did with them filming their spawning on Super 8 film long before video tape reached consumers.

100g I'd a nice size. I have a 100g with angels and discus.

I used to have some huge convicts also.. I actually had some Frankenstein looking ones that were standard mated with pink convicts.. A friend actually still has a pair from years ago when I gave him the babies..

Good to see you rescued them good luck and melafix/pimafix used to work wonders on beat up neglected Fw fish Ime if they were showing signs of bacterial infections or parasites..

Thanks for the tip. I will introduce some melafix after I change out some of the water. I have a feeling that the fish I ended up with are the toughest ones. The breed appears to be pretty hearty. Unfortunately I understand these fish do not play well with others. I ordered an impeller for the filter to get it going again. In addition I would like to remove some of the numerous scratches on the tank. I had a 55G tank on my credenza, but I need to reinforce it to handle the additional weight.
