Lysiosquillina lisa is a favorite of tour guides. They get to 33 cm and are usually not shy.

Needless to say, I was a bit concerned about my lens being that close to the monster! I was hoping he's come out further. The Peocock was poked from behind by the divemaster, so I could get all his pretty "feathers" in the pic.

For a spearer, L. lisa has a good pop with a closed dactyl. Surprisingly, I have never lost a lens shooting in the field. The only disaster I can remember was a very expensive fiberoptic endoscope that I bought to look into a burrow. The very first time I put it down a burrow, the stomatopod broke it. There went a quick $2000 in 1980 dollars.
