Monthly Meeting for January 2013

I definitely had a good time too.
I am going to be buying a hanna meter soon so will be able to put my raffle winnings to good use!!!

I also had a good discussion on carbon dosing and am going to a bit more research so that when my meter comes I can accurately track my levels.

Additionally, in an effort to put an end to procrastination (or at least not be called out for it! lol) I installed my actinics (CF Dual Actinic 430/460 2x40) and it's AWESOME.
Now I have a moon light setting: 1 hr before MH in the morning and 1 hour after MH go off at night.

I also have the materials for my ATO out to be installed and am making a big batch of R/O water (my ATO bucket will be one of those 5 g water cooler blue jugs stored in a tiny bookshelf that looks like regular furniture in a living room and sit right next to the tank.

Hope you guys had fun and please someone post what went on for me so I can read at 1am when I get home amost every night,,,,,,,Missing this month is really putting a toll on me mentally and phyiscally. I always have so much time on my hands that this hobby always came first espicially this club. Man I never been so busy in my life that I could not make another meeting. It starts from hurrican Sandy flooding my house with water and then buying a new home. I been so busy I don't even see my family that much ever since I bought my new home. I have my hands so full you can't even imagine. Trying to get contractors ever since Sandy is real hard so I been doing alot my self with 1-2 guys I know well. I really need to take a break but I am going to be homless soon if I dont hurry up and thats the last thing I need on my plate.(still no answers yet Luke) I Hope to see you guys in Staten Island next month because I look foward to this the day I leave last years!! Once I get time I will post pics.

I don't want two tank threads, but I'll post these pics here, since they stem from my convo w OPG and my determination to NOT BE CALLED OUT. I also won he hanna reagent packet and some nifty calendars/magazines that I will decorate my house and school work desk with!

Did quite a few things over break:

1) Redid the 16g nano- took out the rock, rock was giving off a sulfurus scent when I took it out to rescape (also had black funky patches on the bottom of the rock). A coral I placed in there died too!
So, I drained it, cleaned it, and will recook the rock.
Also, bought hte plumbing piece and now have the Maxi 600 hooked up to run the back chamber (bit of chaeto, filter floss, heater).

2) Installed CF Dual actinic (430/460nm) 2x 40 w on my 120 DT. I now have 1 hour moonlight in the AM and PM. I like the way it looks. Not as much POP as LEDs but still nice and warm.

3) Installed my ATO!!!! I'm using a 5g water cool jug and don't think it's going to be enough. To keep the water level in sump height I'm looking for, it's already used up about 1.5 gallons in just one day. So, I'll still have to refill the just about twice a week (when I had to top the tank off about 3-4 times a week before installing the ATO)

I am going to paint the part of that little bookshelf/water shelf with chalk board paint so I can write fish tank reminders.
At least it blends in with the decor in the living room/not just a big jug of water.
